All of Grand Traverse Bay has great anchorage, but there are two port where anchoring out is a crime. The marinas are that awesome. One of these ports is Traverse City where, unfortunately, we could not get a slip. The other is Elk Rapids. After our cruise on the Sonnet, we knew we had to return to this place. It’s a rather shallow marina, so we actually looked for a boat with a full keel (and thus, a more shallow draw) so we could take it here.
And here we are.
There was a north wind today, so we motored up the West Arm of the bay, then sailed around Mission Point and, downwind, to the harbor.
This is Mission Point light. It’s quite ugly.
We met up with some friends from Michigan Natural Parenting. It’s great when people are as awesome in real life, as they are online!
Rob caught some z’s while the cat took a look around.
And check out this marina! It’s gorgeous!
We have just loved it here, and we’ll stay one more day, before anchoring out, probably on North Point.
