Sunday Supper: Cabbage Soup

Here’s a good way to use up the bones from any meat you eat. I’ve done this with chicken and pork bones. Each type has a different flavor that you will enjoy.

First, soak the bones in water, with a few teaspoons of vinegar. Leave them in the fridge overnight. Then, boil them for 2 hours, adding water as necessary. You can save the broth and freeze it, or use it right away.

To make the soup, fill a saucepan with broth and as much cabbage as you can fit in. Cook until tender. Add garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. Lots of pepper makes a wonderful soup!

When the cabbage is ready, add two eggs, and stir. Add enough whole milk to make it creamy. Sometimes I add a bit of cheese too.


MOONRAKER UPDATE: There really isn’t much of an update to give, until Tuesday, when they pull it out. Pray for a simple keel housing crack, not a keel separation! It’s looking good, but I’ll believe it when someone actually sees it. Otherwise, I’m adapting to living on the land again, and we’ve been working on decluttering the house. I’m not excited about it, but it has to be done. Our friends and family have been calling, to verify that we are, indeed, still alive. I appreciate that. We’ll see how things go on Tuesday.
